Badminton gets you moving

Badminton is an invigorating experience for young and old, and is healthy for body and mind. Forget about just hitting a shuttle back and forth, scoring is what it’s all about, with the shuttle chasing you at top speed all over the court…

‘You always hit the spot at Novum’

Novum Badminton Club offers beginners the chance to try the sport and competition players the opportunity to develop their skills further. Novum is a relatively small club in Groningen, currently with 54 faithful members. We think that a friendly atmosphere with a good balance between performance and fun is very important.

Novum is a member of the Dutch Badminton Association (NBB), which means the club can participate at every level in national and regional badminton leagues.

Our membership fees are divided into three categories according to level:

1. Juniors (8-17 years old)
2. Recreational players (>17 years old)
3. Competition players (>17 years old)

• You can also choose whether to play with Nylon or Feather shuttles
• The basic membership fee for a recreational player using Nylon shuttles is EUR 140 a year.

Where do we play?

Novum plays on Sunday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. in De Brug Sports Hall, Donderslaan, Corpus Den Hoorn-Noord. Click here for directions.
All of the categories play with and around each other. Between 1 and 3 p.m. only mixed doubles and doubles are played, after 3 p.m. you can also play singles.

The season runs from early September to the end of June.

What else do we offer?

- Training on Sundays with certified trainers
- Extra playing time and training opportunities on Thursday evenings for competition players.
- You can also play badminton with your children on Sunday afternoons.

What are the club’s aims?

Although we’re a relatively small club, we aim to continue to play a prominent role in sport in the city of Groningen. In cooperation with other clubs and the Huis voor de Sport (Bslim), we want to encourage more children and youth to play badminton.

Come and meet us

Come along to the sports hall to see what we’re like and hit a shuttle with us. You don’t have to decide immediately whether or not to join as the first three visits are free, including borrowing a racket and using the shuttles.
